Gearhead Crossing
Gearhead Crossing (GHX) is a service to collect scouting information from matches and to allow spectators and teams to view the performance of robots across multiple matches. Ranking and Sorting is available and can be used by teams as part of the strategy discussion between alliance captains for matches as well as used in the decision making process in selecting Alliance partners for the final rounds.
Here is how it works:
- Before matches begin, scouts collect information about other teams and their bots, so that the information can be readily available to anyone using GHX.
- Scouts then watch each match and score each robot on a data collection form. There is one scout per alliance for the entire match. The variables that we track are decided upon by our strategy team.
- The forms are then collected and the data is then entered into Gearhead Crossing.
- Spectators and teams may access the Gearhead Crossing’s portable server via a wireless connection or they may stop by the Gearhead Crossing station sponsored by Team 1189.
- Print outs of the team information, match information and team rankings are available at the Gearhead Crossing station.
- An alliance may present a request for correction of data in Gearhead Crossing for a specific match as long as all teams in the alliance agree and a person with a representative of each alliance team being present. Any correction request needs to take place within 15 minutes of the end of the match.
As always, FIRST data is the only official data and should take precedence over Gearhead Crossing data and metrics.
Gearhead Crossing encourages the involvement of other teams in the scouting effort and in making Gearhead Crossing a tool that can be used by all teams. Gearhead Crossing will train team volunteers on the data collection form and on the Gearhead Crossing scouting process. Volunteers can be easily added to in to the match scouting schedule.
