RACK & ROLL

The Game

  • 3 vs. 3 competition (Blue alliance vs. Red alliance)
  • Lighted targets for vision systems
  • Hanging rings on a 3-tiered center rack (the Spider)
    • Spider is 8x3 tic-tac-toe wrapped around an octagon
  • Exponential scoring:
    • Singleton (1 ring) = 2 points
    • n Rings (in a row) = 2n points
  • 2-minute, 15-second matches
    • 15-second autonomous period
    • 2 minutes of driver control
      • Alliances attempt to hang rings of their color
      • Robots may "spoil" opponents’ rows with black rings
      • Spoilers may be removed
      • No more than 2 rings per Spider leg
  • Extra points for ending match with robots elevated off the ground

2007 Game

Each team consists of:

  • 1 Human Player
    • Passes rings to robot through loading station
  • 2 Drivers
    • Control robot manipulations and movement
  • 1 Coach
    • Makes strategic decisions and directions during match
  • 1 Robot
