About
Robotics
FIRST Robotics, put simply, exists to promote interest in engineering among high school students. The organization sets teams up for an experience more true to life than mere textbook learning. Teams are deliberately never allowed enough time, enough resources, or truly right answers.
FIRST Vision: "To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes." -Dean Kamen, FounderEach year new guidelines are revealed for the seasons competition. Teams have 6 weeks to develop strategies and design, build, and test robots to fulfill their chosen objectives. Beyond the robot, other members manage the team itself by securing and communicating with sponsors, deciding on competitions to attend, promoting engineering in the community (and recruiting), and seeking mentors. Smooth integration of build and everything else is what makes a FIRST team resonant of a successful corporation.

From FIRST:
The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard kit of parts and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in a series of competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Woodie Flowers, and a committee of engineers and other professionals. The competition has grown to 1,125 teams competing in 33 Regional Events, and The Championship held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta where more than 8,500 high-school-aged young people participate.
FIRST Mission
Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership.
Being a FIRST FRC team we are encouraged to live and exemplify the message of Gracious Professionalism. We have been on the receiving end of other teams Graciousness and Professional attitude at competitions more than once and we have paid back the favor every chance we get, on and off the field. We encourage our members to spread the Gracious Professionalism message to everything they do, whether it has to do with robotics or not
